The two-act “musical play” combines narration, live music performance and a slide show based on an 1893 diary of a teenage Illinois farm boy. The songs, written by Tom Irwin and originally released on a 2012 recording, follow the life of young Harry Glen Ludlam through six months as documented daily in his diary. Adapted by playwright John W. Arden for the stage in 2018, the show runs about 2 hours with an intermission and was described by Illinois Times as "pure magic."
